Gigantor Television Cartoon Syndicated 1966

This was another show that really got my imagination going when I was young child. From what I have read this show was created to follow the momentum created by the success of Astro Boy This show featured as the star a giant flying robot that was absolutely huge. He was called Gigantor, aptly named for his huge size. Unlike Astro Boy, this robot possessed no intellect of it's own. A young boy Jimmy Sparks controlled it. Jimmy used a large control box about the same size as an old tabletop radio to control this robot. Jimmy's guardian and mentor was Dr. Brilliant. Dr. Brilliant also created Gigantor. Gigantor could fly thanks to two giant rocket packs mounted on his back.

Whenever and wherever people were thwarted by evil perpetrators with massive powers (usually other giant robots), Jimmy Sparks would step into the picture and call Gigantor to the scene. This immensely powerful robot would fly in and start busting up all of the enemies to save the day. I was impressed and as a result I started draw robots of my own design.
